Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup remains in doubt, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) standing firm on its decision not to travel to India for the tournament.

At the same time, there has been no positive response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to resolve the deadlock.

Following Rangpur Riders’ dramatic last-ball defeat to Sylhet Titans in the BPL Eliminator, Bangladesh T20 and Rangpur’s captain Litton Das was asked about Bangladesh’s World Cup plans during the post-match press conference.

Litton admitted there was still no certainty over whether the team would take part in the tournament, saying he was unsure if they would be travelling to play the World Cup.

When questioned on whether the board’s stance was an ideal one, Litton declined to comment, responding simply with “no comment”.

He also revealed that the BCB had not communicated with him or the players on the issue. “None of the 15 of us know where we are going or where we will play. It’s not just us, the entire country doesn’t know,” Litton said.

The uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh’s involvement in the 2026 T20 World Cup shows no immediate signs of easing.

Various reports have surfaced in the media, including claims that the ICC had asked the BCB to convey a final decision by Wednesday, January 21. The BCB, however, has denied receiving any such deadline.

If Bangladesh ultimately refuse to travel to India for the World Cup, discussions have emerged about Scotland potentially being included as a replacement.

However, the BBC has reported that the ICC has not held any talks with Scotland regarding the matter, and Scottish cricket officials have also confirmed they have not been approached.
