Speculation had suggested a January 21 deadline for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to confirm its stance, but the BCB has clarified that no such date has been officially communicated.
ESPNcricinfo reported that ICC informed BCB about a potential timeline for a decision.
However, BCB Media Committee Chairman Amjad Hossain denied the report, stating that the ICC has not given any specific date or deadline for a final call.
Speaking to the media, Amjad said, “On Saturday, January 17, an ICC representative met with our delegation. During the meeting, we explained our concerns about participating in the World Cup and our inability to play at the designated venues in India.”
He added, “We requested alternative venues and had detailed discussions with their representative. They informed us that these matters would be reported to the ICC and that a decision would be communicated to us later. However, no specific date or timeline was given, only that they would inform us of the next steps in due course.”
