Mustafizur Rahman features in Wisden’s 2025 Men’s T20 Team of the Year

Wisden has announced its 2025 Men’s T20 Team of the Year, recognizing the standout performers across all T20 formats, including international matches and franchise leagues.

Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman (Dhaka Capitals, Rangpur Riders, Delhi Capitals, Dubai Capitals) was the standout seamer, taking 59 wickets at an economy of 6.78, combining strike-taking ability with exceptional control, making him the most effective bowler of 2025.

Abhishek Sharma (India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab) topped the charts with 1,602 runs at a strike rate of 202, including three centuries, while also taking 10 wickets. He became the first batter to score over 1,000 T20 runs in a calendar year at more than two runs per ball.

Phil Salt (England, Manchester Originals, Lancashire, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders) impressed as a wicketkeeper-batter, scoring 1,575 runs with a strike rate of 153 and taking 30 catches. He starred for England in T20Is and for RCB in their maiden IPL-winning campaign, while also delivering explosive hitting in The Hundred.

Dewald Brevis (South Africa, MI Cape Town, Pretoria Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Hampshire) scored 1,200 runs at a strike rate of 181, excelling in IPL, SA20, and The Hundred, and batted effectively from positions three to seven.

England’s Sam Curran (England, Surrey, Oval Invincibles, Chennai Super Kings, Desert Vipers) had a breakthrough year, scoring 1,521 runs and taking 51 wickets. He was Player of the Tournament in both ILT20 editions and led the Desert Vipers to their maiden title.

Other batters included Donovan Ferreira (South Africa, Titans, Joburg Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Oval Invincibles, Texas Super Kings) with 809 runs at a strike rate of 187, and Tim David (Australia, Hobart Hurricanes, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, St Lucia Kings, Rangpur Riders, Gulf Giants, Sharjah Warriorz) with 1,231 runs at a strike rate of 173.

All-rounders Sunil Narine (Trinbago Knight Riders, Kolkata Knight Riders, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders) and Jason Holder (West Indies, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Islamabad United, Khulna Tigers, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Los Angeles Knight Riders) dominated both with the ball and quickfire batting. Narine took 36 wickets at an economy of 6.66, while Holder took 97 wickets at 8.30 and scored 846 runs.

Jacob Duffy (New Zealand, Otago, Worcestershire, Northern Superchargers) led fast bowlers in T20Is, claiming 35 wickets in international matches. Varun Chakravarthy (India, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata Knight Riders) took 55 wickets across international and IPL matches, highlighting his impact with consistent performances.
