Mohammedan not only needed to beat Abahani Limited in their own match but also required title rivals Prime Bank Cricket Club to lose elsewhere.
Thanks to a combination of a dominant performance and weather intervention, both outcomes materialised.
At BKSP Ground No. 3, Mohammedan piled up a record-breaking 406 runs against Abahani. In reply, Abahani reached 178 for 4 in 24.4 overs before lightning and heavy rain forced play to be abandoned. Under the DLS method, Mohammedan were declared winners by 63 runs.
Meanwhile, Prime Bank's title hopes faded on the adjacent ground against Dhaka Leopards. After posting 266 for 8, Prime Bank appeared in control, but rain halted the chase with the Leopards on 142 for 3 after 29.1 overs. Following a lengthy delay, the Leopards were awarded an eight-run DLS victory.
The results handed Mohammedan the championship with nine wins and 18 points from 11 Super League matches.
Abahani and Prime Bank both finished on 16 points with eight victories each, but Abahani secured the runners-up position on head-to-head record.
The title marks Mohammedan's first Dhaka Premier League triumph since the 2009-10 season and their first since the competition gained List A status.
It is also the club's 10th overall Premier League crown, ending a long wait for one of Bangladesh's most historic sporting institutions.
