Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz was taken to hospital for observation after suffering a head injury during the second ODI against Australia in Dhaka on Thursday.

Miraz was struck on the helmet by a Riley Meredith bouncer during the chase and immediately went down on his knees, requiring on-field medical attention.

Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan conducted a concussion assessment, with the Australian team doctor also assisting as a stretcher was briefly brought onto the field.

Despite the scare, Miraz recovered and continued batting, eventually hitting a six to help Bangladesh secure their maiden ODI series win over Australia.

It has been learned later that Mehidy is out of danger but will remain in the hospital on Friday.
