Bangladesh pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed has credited improved, sporting pitches at home for the team’s growing success after they secured an unassailable series lead against Australia with two dominant ODI victories.

Bangladesh sealed the three-match series with a game to spare, powered by outstanding performances from their pace attack, including Taskin, Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana, who played key roles in dismantling Australia’s batting line-up across both matches.

The second ODI saw Bangladesh make history by reducing Australia to 0 for 3, the first time in ODI cricket that the visitors had lost three wickets without scoring a run, before going on to complete a comprehensive victory.

Reflecting on the win, Taskin said the result felt even more special because it came on good batting surfaces rather than spin-friendly conditions traditionally associated with home advantage.

“Alhamdulillah, it’s a great feeling,” Taskin said. “We were on the field, so we didn’t get to see everything clearly. Every over is like a fresh start. We just tried to finish things as quickly as possible as a team.”

“It feels great that we are doing well against Australia. Now no one can say anything about the wickets. We are playing on good pitches and beating a strong team. So it’s a great achievement.”

Taskin also highlighted Bangladesh’s long-term focus on adapting to better playing conditions in order to prepare for major international tournaments.

“Over the last year, the team has been improving gradually, playing on better wickets and in better conditions. The goal is to perform well in big tournaments, which we haven’t achieved yet,” he said.

“That’s why the board and players are working together to play on good surfaces and improve our skills and adaptability. Whether it’s Australia or South Africa, when we play in conditions with extra bounce, it will help us adjust better.”

Bangladesh’s back-to-back wins over Australia have marked one of their most significant achievements in ODI cricket, underlining their progress in all conditions.
