Mohammedan batted first in the high-stakes clash and posted a competitive total of 240. They started with a 50-run opening stand, but Taufiq Khan (16) failed to capitalize. A breakthrough by Abahani’s Mrittunjoy Chowdhury disrupted their rhythm, and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Captain Rony Talukdar departed for 45, leaving Mohammedan under pressure.
However, Mahmudullah Riyad and Ariful Islam revived the innings with a crucial 90-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Both reached half-centuries but were dismissed by Abahani skipper Mosaddek Hossain. A late-order collapse saw Mohammedan restricted to 240 for 7.
In response, Abahani lost Shahriar Kamal early in the second over. But Parvez Hossain Emon and Jishan Alam steadied the chase. Emon departed for 28, while Jishan contributed a solid 55 before falling to Nasum Ahmed.

With the match finely poised, veterans Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain rose to the occasion. Their unbeaten 125-run stand for the fourth wicket sealed the victory and title for Abahani. Mithun remained unbeaten on 66, while Mosaddek anchored the chase with a commanding 78*.

With the ball, Mrittunjoy and Mosaddek were the standout performers for Abahani, taking two wickets each.
Mohammedan, who last won the title in 2009, will have to wait another season to break their drought. Meanwhile, Abahani lifted the DPL trophy for a record third straight time, celebrating another dominant campaign.
As Mosaddek stood on the championship podium, his face reflected calm satisfaction. In contrast, the mood inside the Mohammedan dressing room was one of quiet despair.
With this thrilling final match, the curtain comes down on another chapter of the Dhaka Premier League.
