The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Saturday that Nahid sustained a Grade 2 left side strain during the second T20I against Zimbabwe on July 17.
Scans revealed the extent of the injury, with the 23-year-old expected to spend six to eight weeks on the sidelines. He will require around four weeks for tissue healing before beginning a gradual bowling workload progression.
There was better news regarding Shoriful, who is recovering from a Grade 1 left hamstring injury suffered on July 14.
The left-arm pacer is expected to resume bowling on July 29 and undergo a fitness assessment around August 12. Although he is unlikely to feature in the opening Test against Australia, the BCB expects him to be available for the second Test, subject to medical clearance.
Meanwhile, Litton Das continues his rehabilitation from a left calf muscle injury. The wicketkeeper-batter recently underwent platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment in Singapore and will begin a progressive running and conditioning programme on July 28.
A fitness assessment is scheduled around August 13, with Litton also expected to be in contention for the second Test if he completes his recovery.
