The tournament draw, announced on Thursday, confirmed that the remaining six teams—Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal and Oman will compete in the opening round for the four remaining quarter-final spots.
The men's event, scheduled from September 24 to October 1 in Nagoya, Japan, will begin with two groups. Afghanistan, Japan and Nepal have been placed in Group A, while Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman make up Group B.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage to face the four directly qualified nations.
The women's tournament will be held from September 17 to 22 and will start from the quarter-finals. The fixtures are India vs Japan, Bangladesh vs China, Sri Lanka vs Malaysia, and Pakistan vs Thailand.
All matches in both competitions will be played in the T20 format.
At the previous Asian Games in 2023, India won gold medals in both the men's and women's events.
