The 15-year-old received his maiden international cap ahead of the second T20I against England at Old Trafford, with teammate Tilak Varma presenting him the cap. Sooryavanshi replaced opener Sanju Samson in India's playing XI.
In making his debut, Sooryavanshi surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing record as the youngest Indian to debut in men's international cricket. He also became the youngest Indian to play international cricket across both men's and women's formats, breaking the previous record held by Shafali Verma, who was a few days older when she made her debut in 2019.
Sooryavanshi recently impressed while representing India A in the tri-series in Sri Lanka, where he played under the captaincy of Tilak Varma.
His rapid rise has now culminated in a senior international debut, marking another milestone in one of Indian cricket's most promising young careers.
