The third edition of the Global Super League (GSL) is set to begin later this month, but unlike the previous two seasons, there will be no Bangladeshi franchise in the tournament.

Even so, Bangladesh will still have representation, with left-handed opener Parvez Hossain Emon set to feature for Lahore Qalandars.

Emon has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in the tournament. BCB's Cricket Operations chairman Shahriar Nafees confirmed the development.

"We have issued Parvez Emon an NOC. Yes, he has been granted permission to play in the GSL after the Zimbabwe series," Shahriar told Cricfrenzy.

The Global Super League was launched in 2024, when Lahore Qalandars represented Pakistan as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions. Although no Pakistani team featured in the 2025 edition, Lahore return this year, with Emon included as one of the franchise's overseas players.

Bangladesh are currently touring Zimbabwe, where they will play a three-match T20I series from July 15 to 19. While captain Litton Das and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed have been released to play in the Lanka Premier League due to a scheduling clash, Emon's GSL commitments begin only after the Zimbabwe tour concludes.

The Global Super League gets underway on July 23, with Lahore Qalandars opening their campaign against Perth Scorchers XI. Emon is expected to join the squad immediately after Bangladesh's tour ends on July 19.

Expressing his delight at the opportunity, Emon said he was excited to represent Lahore once again.

"I'm really happy. I played for Lahore in the PSL, and now another opportunity has come to represent them. It's a great feeling."

Emon featured in three PSL matches for Lahore Qalandars earlier this year, scoring 71 runs at a strike rate of over 161 before a shoulder injury cut short his campaign.

Despite the limited appearances, he impressed the franchise, which has now retained him as an overseas player for the Global Super League.

The 2026 Global Super League will run from July 23 to August 2.
