Bangladesh had reached a historic seventh place in the Test rankings after completing a series whitewash over Pakistan.
However, the Tigers' comprehensive loss to Zimbabwe has cost them three rating points, leaving Najmul Hossain Shanto's side on 73 points and down to eighth in the standings.
Although the Zimbabwe Test was not part of the ICC World Test Championship, it still counted toward the ICC Test team rankings. Pakistan moved above Bangladesh into seventh place on the same 73 rating points, while Zimbabwe remained 10th with 17 points.
The latest Test rankings also reflected changes following three Test series around the world. Australia's Travis Head reclaimed the No. 1 spot among Test batters after England's Harry Brook and Joe Root endured quiet outings in the Nottingham Test. Brook slipped to second, with Root dropping to third.
India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah retained the No. 1 position in the Test bowling rankings, while New Zealand seamer Matt Henry slipped to second.
In the T20I rankings, Ishan Kishan replaced fellow Indian Abhishek Sharma as the world's No. 1 batter after an outstanding run of form, including a prolific ICC Men's T20 World Cup campaign in which he scored 317 runs at a strike rate close to 200.
