Former Bangladesh captain and current Bangladesh Cricket Board boss Tamim Iqbal has received appreciation from Peshawar Zalmi after granting a special request that proved crucial for the team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Tamim, who once represented Zalmi during his playing days, is now serving in a leadership role within the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The franchise had approached him seeking a one-day extension of the NOCs for Bangladeshi pacers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam, a request that was approved.

The decision turned out to be significant on the field, as both pacers played key roles in Zalmi’s recent matches, particularly in the death overs where they helped secure important victories.

Zalmi owner Javed Afridi expressed his gratitude in a social media post, thanking Tamim for allowing the duo to feature in the last two matches.

“Brother Tamim Iqbal, thank you very much for allowing Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam to play the last two matches,” Afridi wrote.

With Bangladesh preparing for upcoming international commitments, including a home series against the New Zealand national cricket team and longer-term plans around the ICC Cricket World Cup, national players are being gradually withdrawn from franchise leagues.

However, Zalmi remain hopeful of welcoming the duo back. In the same message, Afridi expressed his desire to have them return after completing their international duties.

“Zalmi fans would love to see them back in the squad as soon as possible after their series,” he added.

Both bowlers made notable contributions during their stint. Nahid Rana picked up seven wickets in four matches with an economy rate under six, while Shoriful Islam claimed two wickets in five games, maintaining control with the ball.

Their departure is expected to leave a gap in Zalmi’s bowling attack, given their growing impact during the tournament.
