Playing his debut PSL campaign, the young pacer has already produced eye-catching performances.
His standout outing came against Karachi Kings, where he returned sensational figures of 3 for 7, registering the most economical spell by a foreign pacer in PSL history. He also bowled 20 dot balls in that match, equalling the tournament record.
Rana has maintained that momentum in subsequent matches. Against Lahore Qalandars, he delivered another tight spell, picking up 2 for 15 in 3 overs, underlining his consistency with both pace and discipline.
Former South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy has been particularly impressed with Rana’s control at high speed and believes it sets him apart.
“Nahid has been outstanding. Not just his pace, but the control he’s showing at that speed is something special. The kind of pace Nahid is bowling with, you have to keep an eye on him. It’s not just about T20 cricket. With this level of control and speed, he can trouble batters in all formats.” Duminy said.
So far, Rana has claimed 5 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 10.40, placing him among the top wicket-takers in the competition.
Fellow Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam has also contributed effectively for Zalmi, while Tanzid Hasan Tamim remains part of the squad but is yet to feature this season.
