The New Zealand will tour Bangladesh without regular captain Mitchell Santner, who has been rested due to his commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In his absence, wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham will lead the side.

The visitors have named a mixed squad featuring several new faces alongside returning players, making it a somewhat different New Zealand lineup for the tour.

Among those returning from injury are Matt Fisher, Will O’Rourke, and Blair Tickner. O’Rourke has been included in the ODI squad, Tickner in the T20I side, while Fisher is set to feature in both formats.

Despite the absence of several regulars, former Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu has warned against underestimating the visitors.

“New Zealand are a very good side and they pose a challenge in all formats. We cannot take this series lightly, especially as we are playing at home and need the points,” Nannu said.

He also cautioned that Bangladesh could face trouble if they underestimate a reshuffled New Zealand side.

“They may be missing some regular players and have made changes, but if we take them lightly, it could backfire. We must deliver our best at the right time and aim for positive performances that will help in future series,” he added.
