Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has been withdrawn from the squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh as the visitors shift focus to the shortest format following their 2-1 ODI series defeat.

Australia avoided a series whitewash by edging Bangladesh by one wicket in the third ODI in Mirpur, with Cooper Connolly's match-winning century helping the tourists salvage a consolation victory.

However, Bangladesh had already sealed the series with wins in the opening two matches.

Ahead of the three-match T20I series, Australia have made a key change to their squad by withdrawing Green. According to reports from Code Sports journalist Daniel Cherny, the decision is not injury-related.

Green was originally named in Australia's T20I squad and was expected to play a major role under captain Mitchell Marsh. However, Cricket Australia is understood to be managing the all-rounder's workload ahead of the upcoming Test commitments.

Following the white-ball tour, Bangladesh are scheduled to travel to Australia in August for a two-Test series. Australian team management reportedly wants Green fully prepared for the red-ball season and the home Test series.

Australia had already named a strong T20I squad featuring several all-round options, with Marsh leading the side as they look to bounce back from their historic ODI series loss to Bangladesh.
