Bangladesh's historic ODI series victory over Australia has been rewarded with a Tk 20 million bonus from the Bangladesh government.

Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque announced the reward during a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) event at a five-star hotel in Dhaka, following Bangladesh's maiden ODI series triumph over the world champions.

After ending a 21-year wait for an ODI victory against Australia in the series opener, Bangladesh backed it up with a five-wicket win in the second match to secure an unassailable 2-0 lead and clinch their first-ever bilateral ODI series against the Australians.

The Tigers are now aiming to complete a memorable whitewash in the third and final ODI. Bangladesh's first victory was built on key contributions from Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mosaddek Hossain and Nahid Rana.

In the second ODI, Shanto was supported by Soumya Sarkar and Towhid Hridoy with the bat, while Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam starred with the ball to restrict Australia to under 200.

Although Bangladesh have often rotated their squad after sealing a series, the opportunity to whitewash a team of Australia's stature is a rare one, and the hosts are expected to field a strong side as they chase a 3-0 sweep.
