Australia stand-in captain Josh Inglis has praised Bangladesh bowlers Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain ahead of the upcoming white-ball series, while acknowledging that the hosts will pose a significant challenge in familiar conditions.

Australia are currently in Dhaka for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

Ahead of the ODI leg, the visitors were forced into three squad changes, with Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head and Tanveer Sangha all ruled out.

Inglis admitted that the absence of Marsh and Head is a major setback for Australia but believes it also presents an opportunity to test younger players and explore different combinations ahead of the next World Cup.

“Whenever you leave out players like Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, you're obviously missing a lot. They are both outstanding cricketers,” Inglis said.

“Unfortunately, they are not here, but at the same time, tours like this provide valuable experience for younger players. With a World Cup on the horizon, it is important to assess different combinations and give opportunities to a wider group of players.”

The Australian captain also singled out Bangladesh pacer Nahid as a bowler capable of making a significant impact during the series. Nahid impressed in Bangladesh’s recent series against New Zealand and has quickly established himself as one of the country's most exciting fast-bowling prospects.

“I haven't seen a great deal of him, but from what I have watched, he looks like a really good bowler. He is tall, generates good pace and has all the attributes to be a dangerous opponent. He is certainly someone who could make things difficult for us in this series.”

Leg-spinner Rishad has also attracted attention following an impressive campaign in Australia’s Big Bash League. Inglis revealed that several members of the Australian setup are already familiar with Rishad's strengths, particularly those who played alongside him at the Hobart Hurricanes.

“Rishad is a very good bowler. He played a lot of cricket in the Big Bash, so several of our players know him well. Matthew Wade is part of our coaching staff, and Nathan Ellis spent plenty of time with him at Hobart. We'll definitely be discussing him and preparing accordingly.”

Australia begin their ODI series against Bangladesh this week, with Inglis leading a squad that combines experienced campaigners and emerging talent as they continue preparations for future global tournaments.
