Bangladesh cricket icon Tamim Iqbal emerged as the highest vote-getter in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors' election held on Saturday, securing a place on the board alongside 11 other successful candidates from the club category.

Voting took place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the BCB Board Room next to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Vote counting concluded at around 6:00 p.m.

A total of 16 candidates contested for 12 director positions in the Club Category (Category-2). The elected directors are Tamim Iqbal, Masuduzzaman, Rafiqul Islam Babu, Yasir Abbas, Israfil Khasru, Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed, Shahnian Tanim, Fahim Sinha, Yasir Faisal, Asif Rabbani, Dr. Mahbub Shamim and Sakef Ahmed Salam.

The four unsuccessful candidates were Borhanul Pappu, Amzad Hossain, Fayzur Rahman and Major Imroz Ahmed.

Tamim topped the polls with 73 votes. Saeed Ibrahim Ahmed and Israfil Khasru jointly secured the second-highest tally with 72 votes each. Masuduzzaman received 70 votes, while Yasir Faisal collected 68.

Fahim Sinha and Shahnian Tanim each earned 66 votes. Asif Rabbani secured 64 votes, while Mirza Yasir Abbas received 63. Rafiqul Islam Babu obtained 53 votes and Dr. Mahbub Shamim was elected with 41 votes.

Among the defeated candidates, Borhanul Pappu received 40 votes, Amzad Hossain 32, Fayzur Mitu 23 and Major Imroz Ahmed 20.

The election results mark a significant step in shaping the future leadership of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, with former national captain Tamim now set to play a role in the board's administration as an elected director.
