Pakistan’s decision to withdraw its directive to boycott the February 15 T20 World Cup match against India in Colombo has spared the International Cricket Council (ICC) from a potential revenue loss of around 174 million, according to a report by The Indian Express.

The projected losses were linked to broadcast rights, sponsorship deals and gate receipts.

The situation was resolved following high-level discussions involving the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and officials from several cricket boards, including Bangladesh.

Earlier, Pakistan had considered skipping the fixture in solidarity with Bangladesh after Scotland replaced them in the tournament due to travel concerns related to India.

However, after consultations, the Pakistani government instructed the national team to honour the scheduled match.

The government announced the decision on social media platform X, stating that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following talks with the ICC.
