The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will face no financial, sporting, or administrative penalties in relation to its non-participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The announcement comes after open and constructive dialogue between the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and BCB, aimed at ensuring continued cooperation and growth of cricket in South Asia.

The ICC emphasized that the BCB remains a valued Full Member with a proud cricketing history and a vital role in the development of global cricket.

The discussions also reinforced Bangladesh’s ability to host major events, with an agreement that the country will host an ICC tournament between 2028 and 2031, subject to standard ICC hosting processes and requirements.

ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta stated, “Bangladesh’s absence from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is regrettable, but it does not alter the ICC’s enduring commitment to Bangladesh as a core cricketing nation. Bangladesh remains a priority cricket ecosystem deserving of long-term investment in its development, competitiveness and global integration.”

The ICC clarified that BCB retains the right to approach the Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) if it chooses, under existing ICC regulations. The council also reaffirmed that its approach is guided by neutrality and fairness, focusing on facilitation rather than punishment.

All parties, including the ICC, PCB, and BCB, expressed commitment to continued dialogue, cooperation, and constructive engagement to protect the integrity of the game and preserve unity within the cricketing fraternity.
