As the scheduled India–Pakistan clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup approaches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have jointly proposed a tri-nation series involving India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, according to a Cricbuzz report.

The high-profile match is set to be played on February 15 in Colombo. The proposal was discussed during talks aimed at resolving uncertainty over Pakistan’s earlier decision to boycott the fixture in solidarity with Bangladesh.

Cricbuzz reported that the proposal emerged during a meeting involving officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the PCB, and the BCB. Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam Bulbul attended the discussions, while ICC Vice-Chairman Imran Khwaja was present in person and Emirates Cricket Board director Mubashir Usmani joined virtually.

In addition to the tri-series plan, the PCB and BCB also raised the issue of resuming bilateral cricket. However, the ICC clarified that it cannot offer any assurances regarding bilateral or tri-nation series involving India, as such decisions lie solely with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The ICC has continued to prioritise dialogue and due process in addressing the situation. The matter has since been referred to the Pakistani government, with a final decision on the February 15 fixture expected following consultations at the highest level.

The officials remain hopeful that a resolution will be reached in the coming days, which could help ease tensions and serve the broader interests of international cricket.
