The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to relocate all of Bangladesh’s matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 away from India due to safety concerns, amid worsening political relations between the two nations, a situation intensified by the BCCI’s directive to Kolkata Knight Riders regarding Mustafizur Rahman.

In an emergency meeting, the BCB Board of Directors reviewed recent developments and expressed serious concern over the security of the national team while matches are scheduled in India.

Following advice from the Bangladesh Government, the Board decided that the team will not travel to India under the current circumstances.

The request to ICC aims to ensure the safety and well-being of players, officials, and other stakeholders while allowing Bangladesh to compete in a secure environment.

The BCB has urged the ICC to respond urgently and take necessary steps to safeguard the team’s participation.

The Bangladesh team were due to play their opening three matches of the tournament in Kolkata next month.
