Lahore Qalandars batter Fakhar Zaman is facing a possible suspension after being charged with changing the condition of the ball during Lahore’s four-wicket defeat to Karachi Kings in PSL 2026.

According to a PCB statement, Fakhar has been booked for a Level 3 offence, which carries a minimum one-match ban and a maximum two-match ban for a first offence in a PSL season.

Match referee Roshan Mahanama is expected to hold a hearing within the next two days, with Fakhar set to contest the charge.

The incident occurred at the start of the final over of Karachi’s chase, when on-field umpire Faisal Afridi took the ball from Haris Rauf for inspection after it had passed between Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar.

After consulting fellow umpire Sharfuddoula, the officials ruled that the ball had been tampered with and ordered it to be replaced.

As a result, Karachi Kings were awarded five penalty runs, while the batters at the crease were allowed to choose the replacement ball under the PSL playing conditions.

The penalty proved decisive, reducing Karachi’s equation and helping shift momentum in their favour before they dramatically sealed the chase.
