PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the workshop, which was also joined by top PSL performers including the league’s two highest run-scorers Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, along with leading wicket-takers Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
During the session, the PSL management presented detailed frameworks on player retention and the auction process. Following discussions and feedback, it was confirmed that the PSL auction will take place on February 11. All auction prices will be set in Pakistani rupees.
The highest base price has been fixed at PKR 42 million, while other categories will carry base prices of PKR 22 million, PKR 11 million and PKR 6 million respectively.
Minimum incremental bids have also been determined. For bids below PKR 11 million, the increment will be PKR 250,000; below PKR 22 million, PKR 500,000; below PKR 42 million, PKR 1 million; and for bids exceeding PKR 42 million, the increment will be PKR 1.5 million. Franchises, however, will be allowed to bid higher than the minimum increments if they wish.
Under the new structure, each team squad must include a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 20 players. Teams will be allowed to sign between five and seven overseas players, with at least three and a maximum of four foreign players required in the playing XI.
Each squad must also include at least two uncapped Under-23 players, with at least one required to play in the XI. Players acquired through auction or retention will sign two-year contracts. After the 11th edition of the PSL, franchises will be allowed to retain up to seven players for the 12th season.
A ‘Grand Auction’ will be held after PSL 12, where franchises may retain a maximum of five players, with released players returning to the auction pool.
Franchises will also be permitted to directly sign one overseas player who did not feature in the 10th edition of the PSL. In such cases, the team’s salary purse may be increased from PKR 450 million to PKR 505 million, with the PCB providing financial support to recruit elite foreign players.
