Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday held an interaction with national team players, taking them into confidence over the board’s stance on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup amid growing regional tensions.

During the meeting, players expressed full support for the PCB’s position and appreciated what they termed the board's principled and consistent approach.

Naqvi reiterated that the PCB’s support for Bangladesh was rooted in the “golden principles of cricket,” while firmly rejecting what he described as double standards in global cricket governance.

He stated that Bangladesh’s decision not to play in India was based on principle, adding that politicising cricket benefits no one and that the spirit and values of the game must be upheld.

However, he clarified that any final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation would ultimately be taken by the Pakistani government.

The PCB chairman also praised the national team’s preparations and expressed confidence ahead of the upcoming Pakistan–Australia T20 series, saying the players are capable of competing at the highest level.

He urged the squad to meet the expectations of cricket fans, who are keenly following the series and expecting strong performances.

Players, speaking collectively, affirmed that they stand with the PCB’s principled stance and would support the board’s decision, even if it leads to a boycott of the World Cup.

Captain Salman Ali Agha, Head Coach Mike Hesson, Team Manager Naveed Akram Cheema, Chief Selector Javed Iqbal Javed, along with PCB media, commercial and other officials, were also present at the meeting.
