The speculation was finally put to rest on Monday morning when the BCB president appeared at the board’s headquarters in Mirpur at around 11:00am. He was seen walking around the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium before joining routine official duties.
Since assuming full-time responsibility, Bulbul has been navigating a challenging period as BCB president. Bangladesh declined to travel to India for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, citing security concerns.
The ICC did not accept the BCB’s stance and instead included Scotland in the tournament in place of Bangladesh.
As a result, Bangladesh will not be participating in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. At the same time, internal instability has gripped the BCB. One board director has faced allegations of involvement in match-fixing and has stepped down from the audit committee, while another director, Ishtiaq Sadeq, has resigned from his position.
Amid this turbulent situation within Bangladesh cricket, rumours of Bulbul leaving the country gained momentum, but his presence in Mirpur has now effectively ended the speculation.
