Noakhali Express registered their first-ever victory in the Bangladesh Premier League with a hard-fought nine-run win over Rangpur Riders.

Defending a modest total of 148, Noakhali showed composure under pressure to restrict Rangpur to 139 for 9 in 20 overs, securing a landmark result for the franchise.

Batting first, Noakhali were bowled out for 148 in 19.5 overs after a collective batting effort. Soumya Sarkar scored 31 off 27 balls, while Habibur Rahman Sohan played a quick knock of 30 from 16 deliveries.

Jaker Ali anchored the innings with 38 off 37 balls, and Mahidul Islam Ankon added a crucial 28 off 21 balls to lift Noakhali to a competitive total.

Rangpur’s bowlers kept the scoring in check throughout the innings. Mustafizur Rahman led the attack with an excellent spell of 3 for 18, while Khushdil Shah chipped in with 2 for 27. Despite late wickets, Noakhali managed to cross the 140-run mark.

In response, Rangpur Riders struggled to gain momentum after losing early wickets. Hasan Mahmud spearheaded Noakhali’s bowling attack with a brilliant spell, finishing with 4 for 26. He struck at key moments to break Rangpur’s chase and applied constant pressure.

Iftikhar Ahmed fought hard with 37 off 31 balls, while Towhid Hridoy added 29 off 28, but the lack of substantial partnerships proved costly for Rangpur. Support came from Zahir Khan, who took 2 for 25, and Mohammad Nabi, who bowled economically.

Hasan Mahmud was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
