Soumya Sarkar will not feature in the opening phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), specifically the Sylhet leg, due to family reasons. A source from the Noakhali Express franchise confirmed the development to Cricfrenzy.

The new season of the BPL has started on Friday afternoon, with the opening match between Sylhet Titans and Rajshahi Warriors. Later, Noakhali Express are scheduled to play their first match of the tournament.

In the second match of the day, Noakhali will face Chattogram Royals. However, the franchise will be without star all-rounder Soumya, who has yet to join the squad.

According to sources, Soumya is currently abroad due to family commitments, which has ruled him out of Noakhali’s opening match.

The source further added that Soumya is expected to rejoin the team from the Chattogram leg of the BPL, after which the all-rounder will be available regularly.
