Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has stressed the importance of regular grassroots competitions as the foundation of the country's cricket development during an Exchange of Ideas session held in Dhaka on Sunday.

The programme brought together BCB officials and councillors from districts and divisions across the country to discuss the future growth of cricket in Bangladesh.

BCB Vice President Fahim Sinha, Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, board directors and the majority of the board's 72 district and divisional councillors attended the event.

Addressing the gathering, Tamim highlighted the crucial role played by district and divisional cricket bodies in sustaining Bangladesh's cricket ecosystem.

He urged councillors to ensure the regular organisation of local leagues, saying competitive cricket at the grassroots level remains the key to identifying and developing future talent.

Tamim also reiterated the board's commitment to strengthening regional cricket through continued investment in infrastructure and training facilities across the country.

The session provided an open platform for councillors and board officials to discuss issues related to facilities, competitions, talent identification, administrative support and resource allocation.

Councillors shared their experiences and challenges while offering suggestions to improve cricket development at the grassroots level.

Participants welcomed the initiative and thanked the BCB for creating a forum that allowed direct dialogue with board leadership, expressing hope that the discussions would help generate practical solutions for the advancement of cricket nationwide.
