Amid widespread speculation and talk of a possible boycott in support of Bangladesh, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put an end to the uncertainty by unveiling a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The squad was announced on Sunday, shortly after the International Cricket Council (ICC) warned the PCB of serious consequences should it withdraw from the tournament.

In a significant development, the PCB also confirmed that Pakistan will take part in the World Cup under the captaincy of Salman Ali Agha, effectively closing the chapter on the political drama that had threatened to overshadow the build-up to the event.

There is a strong presence of all-rounders in the squad with the likes of Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz providing multiple options with the bat and ball.

Star batter Babar Azam has returned to the squad despite his horror show in the Big Bash League debut season. Shaheen Afridi has also been named in the squad and is expected to return from his injury by then.

Pakistan are slotted in Group A alongside co-hosts and defending champions India, Netherlands, USA and Namibia.

The former champions will kick start their campaign against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo.

Pakistan squad for T20 World Cup:

Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Usman Khan (wk) and Usman Tariq.
