The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has held discussions regarding the possible return of Shakib Al Hasan to the national team, confirming that the selectors will consider him if he is fit and available.

The development was also confirmed by BCB Media Committee Chairman Amzad Hussain following an emergency board meeting on Saturday (January 24).

“The board has unanimously decided that Shakib Al Hasan will be considered for selection, subject to his availability and fitness,” Amzad said.

Alongside a potential national team comeback, talks are also underway to reinstate Shakib on the central contract list.

The BCB has confirmed that 27 players will be included in this year’s central contracts, with Shakib’s name under consideration.

Explaining the board’s position, Amzad said the decision was unanimous, stating that if Shakib meets fitness requirements, is available, and can be present at the venue, the board and the selection panel will consider him for selection.

He also added that Shakib would be eligible for selection in both home and away series.

However, the board is also set to take an active role in addressing Shakib’s ongoing legal matters. It is understood that BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul will hold discussions with the government regarding the issue.

Overall, the prospect of seeing Shakib once again in Bangladesh’s iconic green-and-red jersey has reignited hope among millions of fans, who now eagerly await the familiar moment of his return to the field.
