According to the BCB, the mail cited by the Ministry of Youth & Sports Adviser was related to an internal exchange between the BCB and the ICC’s Security Department concerning threat assessments for the Bangladesh team ahead of the tournament.
The Board emphasized that this does not constitute a formal response from the ICC to Bangladesh’s request to relocate its matches outside India.
The BCB reiterated that it has formally raised security concerns regarding the venue arrangements and has requested the ICC to move Bangladesh’s matches to a safer location. The Board confirmed that it is still awaiting an official response from the ICC on this matter.
This comes amid ongoing debates over the safety of the Bangladesh squad if they were to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, with security assessments and risk factors being closely monitored by both the ICC and the BCB.
