The Bangladesh A captain turned his double century into a historic triple hundred against South Africa A, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score a first-class triple century outside the country.
Bangladesh A had found themselves in deep trouble early in their reply to South Africa A's imposing first-innings total of 512.
The visitors lost three wickets for just 78 runs, with Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Parvez Hossain Emon and Naim Sheikh departing cheaply.
From there, Hridoy took control of the innings. Unbeaten on 75 at the end of the second day, he built a crucial partnership with Jaker Ali on day three.
Although Jaker fell six runs short of a century after scoring 94, Hridoy continued his march and ended the day unbeaten on 204.
The Bangladesh A skipper maintained the same momentum on the fourth day. After Mohammad Saifuddin was dismissed for 87, followed by quick departures of Nayeem Hasan and Hasan Murad, Hridoy found support from Rejaur Rahman Raja in a crucial ninth-wicket stand that helped Bangladesh A take the lead.
Then came the historic moment. Hridoy reached 300 from 450 balls, producing not only the best innings of his first-class career but also adding a new chapter to Bangladesh cricket history.
His previous highest first-class score was 217, but he went well beyond that mark in Potchefstroom.
Before Hridoy, only Raqibul Hasan [330] and current BCB president Tamim Iqbal [334*] had scored triple centuries for Bangladesh in first-class cricket. Neither, however, had achieved the feat outside the country.
