The ICC has handed Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz a three-month ban for breaching its anti-doping code after he tested positive for Carboxy-THC, a substance of abuse, following Pakistan's T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7, 2026.

The suspension was backdated to May 1, 2026, when Nawaz voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension.

Having already served two-and-a-half months, he is now eligible to return. The ICC added that the suspension will effectively be reduced to one month if he successfully completes a substance abuse treatment programme.

In a statement, the ICC said: "Nawaz admitted the offence and demonstrated that the substance had been used out-of-competition and in a manner unrelated to sport performance."

The governing body further confirmed: "Subject to Nawaz completing a substance of abuse treatment programme to the ICC's satisfaction, Nawaz will not be required to serve any further period of ineligibility."

The ICC also ruled that Nawaz's records from Pakistan's match against the Netherlands and all subsequent matches until May 1, 2026, have been disqualified under the anti-doping code.
