Bangladesh were scheduled to travel after their home series against Australia in June. However, Ireland’s newly released summer schedule did not include the Bangladesh series, later confirmed as cancelled.
As a result, players like Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will have an extended break before the next assignment, with a gap of around six weeks after the Australia series.
Despite cancelling Bangladesh’s tour, Ireland will host India, Afghanistan and New Zealand.
The schedule includes a four-day Test against New Zealand in May and a two-match T20I series against India in June, while additional matches have been added against Afghanistan.
Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie expressed disappointment over the limited home fixtures, saying on Instagram, “I won’t lie. Only eight home matches this international summer. Very disappointed.”
