The Pakistan Cricket Board has lodged an official complaint with match referee Naimur Rahman over a controversial DRS review taken by Bangladesh national cricket team during the series-deciding third ODI against Pakistan national cricket team at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

According to the PCB, Bangladesh’s LBW review late in the match may have been taken after a replay of the delivery had already been shown on the stadium’s big screen, which could be against regulations.

The dramatic moment came in the final over when Pakistan needed 12 runs from two balls to win. On the fifth delivery of Rishad Hossain’s over, umpire initially called a wide against Shaheen Shah Afridi. After a brief discussion, Bangladesh opted for an LBW review.

Pakistan claim that the replay showing the ball passing close to Afridi’s bat had already appeared on the big screen before the review was taken, which could have influenced the decision.

Under standard protocol, teams are expected to decide on a review before any replay is shown to players.

The PCB has also raised concerns that the review might have exceeded the 15-second time limit, although television broadcasts did not show a timer to confirm this.

DRS later showed that the ball had indeed brushed Afridi’s bat, overturning the wide call. Bangladesh lost the review, but Pakistan were then left needing 12 runs from the final ball.

Afridi attempted a big shot off the last delivery but was stumped, allowing Bangladesh to win the match by 11 runs and seal the series 2–1.
