According to sources, Aminul Islam is scheduled to attend an emergency meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) later today, alongside representatives from other member boards.
He is also expected to hold talks with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi before returning to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, an ICC delegation led by the council’s deputy chairman is set to arrive in Pakistan at 4:30pm to discuss the situation arising from Pakistan’s decision to boycott the India fixture.
The developments follow Pakistan’s move to withdraw from its February 15 World Cup match against India, citing what the PCB has termed a biased approach by the ICC, with Bangladesh playing a key role in the ongoing dispute.
Relations between the Bangladesh and Indian cricket boards deteriorated after Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was dropped from the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the directive of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), triggering strong reactions in Dhaka.
Subsequently, the BCB urged the ICC to relocate its matches outside India, a request that was rejected. Following Bangladesh’s firm position, the ICC replaced Bangladesh with Scotland in the tournament, stating that schedule alterations were not feasible before the event’s February 7 start.
Separately, the PCB has rejected claims by Indian media that it had proposed dialogue with the ICC to resolve the issue surrounding its boycott decision.
