Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have strengthened their squad ahead of PSL 2026 by announcing Mustafizur Rahman as a direct signing.

The Bangladeshi left-arm pacer was picked up for PKR 6.44 crore (approximately USD 230,000).

Mustafizur was earlier selected by Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL 2026 auction but was released last month following BCCI instructions, paving the way for his return to the PSL.

Pakistan batter Saim Ayub has featured for Peshawar Zalmi in the last three editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), delivering several eye-catching performances with the bat.

Alongside his batting prowess, Ayub’s ability to bowl off-spin has helped him establish himself as a genuine all-rounder. The 23-year-old recently climbed to the top of the ICC T20I all-rounders rankings, underlining his rapid rise in international cricket.

Despite Peshawar’s interest in retaining him, Saim chose not to renew his contract with the franchise. Ahead of the new season, he has joined Kingsmen Hyderabad, who signed him for a staggering PKR 12.6 crore, approximately BDT 5.51 crore.

The deal makes Saim the most expensive local player in PSL history, surpassing the likes of Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Both Babar and Shaheen were retained for PKR 7 crore by Peshawar Zalmi and Lahore Qalandars respectively. Alongside Saim, Kingsmen Hyderabad also retained Usman Khan, Akif Javed, and Maaz Sadakat, while securing Australian star Marnus Labuschagne on a direct contract.

New franchise Sialkot Stallions, who will be playing in the PSL for the first time, have also submitted their list of retained players. The franchise has signed Steve Smith on a direct contract and retained Mohammad Nawaz, along with Salman Mirza, Ahmed Daniyal, and Saad Masood.

Among the existing teams, five franchises submitted their retention lists on 3 February. Multan Sultans, currently awaiting sale, are the only franchise not to retain any players.

The PSL draft will be held on 11 February for the first time in the league’s history, with the tournament set to begin on 23 March.
