Bangladesh’s participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup remains uncertain, with a final decision on whether they will travel to India due by January 21, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The BCB has told the ICC that it wants to play in the tournament but not in India, citing security concerns, and has suggested Sri Lanka as an alternative venue.

The ICC, however, has refused to alter the schedule, rejected a proposed group swap with Ireland, and maintained that there is no specific security threat to Bangladesh.

Bangladesh are currently scheduled to play all their Group C matches in Kolkata and Mumbai, starting on the opening day against West Indies.

If the BCB ultimately decides not to travel, the ICC is expected to replace Bangladesh with Scotland based on rankings.

The dispute began after Mustafizur Rahman was removed from KKR’s IPL 2026 squad, following which Bangladesh banned IPL broadcasts and formally informed the ICC of its refusal to play in India.
