This development has created uncertainty around Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament and the venues for their fixtures, as discussions between the BCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) continue.
According to a report by Geo Super on Sunday, PCB officials have formally informed the ICC that Pakistan is prepared to step in and host Bangladesh’s matches should Sri Lankan venues be unavailable.
The sources also stated that all major cricket grounds in Pakistan are fully equipped to host World Cup matches on short notice.
The situation reportedly escalated after Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was released from the Indian Premier League following instructions from the BCCI, citing unspecified circumstances. This decision is believed to have contributed to Bangladesh’s firm stance against travelling to India.
