Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy has secured a late call-up to the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026, joining Jaffna Kings despite going unsold in the player draft.

A source at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed to Cricfrenzy that the right-hander has now signed with Jaffna Kings.

He has also received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the BCB and is expected to travel to Sri Lanka shortly to link up with the squad.

The Bangladesh batter will share the dressing room with compatriot Shakib Al Hasan, who is already representing Jaffna in this year's tournament.

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was initially expected to play for Jaffna after Bangladesh toured Zimbabwe.

However, he opted out of the LPL to focus on preparations for the upcoming Australia series. Hridoy is believed to have been brought in as Taskin's replacement.

Hridoy is no stranger to the LPL. He made his tournament debut in 2023, scoring 155 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 135.96, including a half-century. He returned in 2024 with Dambulla Sixers, but managed just one run in two innings across three matches.

Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nurul Hasan Sohan are representing Galle Gallants, while Hasan Mahmud is featuring for Colombo Caps in the ongoing LPL season.
