After hours of uncertainty and negotiations, Bangladesh’s cricketers agreed to return to the field following late-night talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), paving the way for the resumption of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Earlier, Bangladesh’s cricketers remained firm in their decision to boycott cricket until late Thursday, after BCB director M. Najmul Islam did not resign from his board position despite the players’ demands.

However, the players later softened their stance, attaching several conditions for returning to the field.

BCB directors met with the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) at Navana Tower in Gulshan at 8:00 pm.

Before the meeting, CWAB issued a statement saying they were satisfied with the ongoing process initiated by the BCB and demanded a public apology from the director concerned.

Matches scheduled for Thursday will now be played on Friday, while Saturday’s fixtures have been rescheduled for January 18, the BCB confirmed.

After the meeting, BPL Governing Council member secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, CWAB president Mohammad Mithun, and Bangladesh ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz addressed the media.
