With the Bangladesh Premier League set to commence on December 26 in Sylhet, franchises have begun fulfilling their financial obligations.

Rajshahi Warriors have already disbursed the first 25 percent of player salaries, including payments to Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Ripon Mondol and Mushfiqur Rahim, with other teams now following suit.

Rajshahi captain Shanto expressed satisfaction after receiving the payment. Speaking to the media, he said it was a very positive development and stressed that timely payments should be the standard every year.

Shanto praised Rajshahi’s ownership and management for ensuring that players do not have to worry about financial issues and hoped that all teams would follow the same example.

“It’s very positive that the franchises have started making payments. This is how it should be. I think if things remain like this every year, it will be very good. It feels great to see that players have received their payments properly so far.” Shanto said.

Praising his own franchise, Shanto added, “Rajshahi paid the money very early, and the owners and management have been very clear about ensuring that players don’t have to worry about payment issues. This is definitely a positive sign. I hope every team follows this approach and pays their players on time.”

The BPL will officially get underway with hosts Sylhet Titans taking on Rajshahi Warriors.

Shanto admitted to feeling excited about playing against the home side in front of a home crowd, describing it as a challenge his team is fully prepared to embrace.

“As a player, it’s very exciting to play against the home side in front of their home crowd. I actually enjoy this kind of challenge. Every player in my team is ready to take it on,” he said.
