Mendis underwent emergency surgery in Dubai last week after doctors detected a bladder stone, which required immediate medical attention. The surgery was completed successfully, and the Lankan batter has since been advised to remain on rest.
There is no clear timeline yet for his return to competitive cricket.
As a result, Mendis has also been ruled out of the ongoing ILT20, where he developed the medical complication while participating in the tournament.
Given the seriousness of the situation, he was provided immediate treatment. Sources indicate that the operation was successful and that Mendis is currently recovering gradually under medical supervision.
The Sri Lankan batter will miss the remainder of the ILT20 as well as the entire BPL season.
