Batting first, the Renegades struggled to build momentum and finished on 145 for 9. While Tim Seifert (34) and Mohammad Rizwan (32) provided some resistance, regular wickets kept the innings in check.
Rishad stood out for the Hurricanes, conceding just 21 runs in his four overs and picking up the key wicket of Jake Fraser-McGurk, maintaining pressure through the middle overs with tidy, disciplined bowling.
The real damage, however, was inflicted by Chris Jordan, who ran through the Renegades’ lower order with a brilliant 4 for 19, earning both Player of the Match and Cricinfo’s MVP honors.
In reply, the Hurricanes made light work of the target. After an early wobble at 38 for 2, Nikhil Chaudhary’s blistering 79 off 38 balls turned the contest decisively in Hobart’s favor. Ben McDermott played the perfect supporting role with an unbeaten 49, as the Hurricanes raced to 149 for 3 in just 13.5 overs.
While the Hurricanes’ batting dominance sealed a comprehensive win, Rishad Hossain’s economical spell once again underlined his growing value in franchise cricket, even on a night dominated by big performances from his teammates.
