However, due to security concerns, the event has been cancelled. Instead, the BPL Governing Council will host the opening ceremony in Sylhet on the opening day of the tournament, prompting a revision of match timings.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the development in a press release on Saturday, stating that the BPL Event Technical Committee has decided to adjust the schedule of the opening day matches to accommodate the pre-event inauguration activities.
Two matches will be played in Sylhet on the opening day, December 26.
In the first match, Sylhet Titans will face Rajshahi Warriors, while Chattogram Royals will take on Noakhali Express in the second encounter. Originally scheduled to start at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm respectively, the revised timings will see the first match begin at 3:00 pm, while the second match will start at 7:45 pm.
In the upcoming season, Sylhet and Chattogram will each host 12 matches. The first 12 league-stage matches will be played in Sylhet, followed by the Chattogram leg starting on January 5, where another 12 matches will be held.
The tournament will then return to Dhaka on January 15. The final six league matches, along with four knockout games including the final, will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
