The Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit (BCBIU) investigated allegations involving match manipulation, failure to disclose approaches related to corrupt conduct, non-cooperation with investigations and obstruction of the investigative process.
Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman (Shamim)
Former BCB director and Audit Committee chairman Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman (Shamim) faces four charges:
Article 2.1.1 — Allegedly fixing, attempting to fix or improperly influencing the result, progress or conduct of a BPL match.
Article 2.1.4— Allegedly soliciting, inducing, encouraging or facilitating a participant to engage in corrupt conduct.
Article 2.4.4— Allegedly failing to promptly disclose an approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct.
Article 2.4.7 — Allegedly obstructing an investigation by concealing, deleting or destroying relevant communications or information.
Zakir Hossain
Former BCB Security Liaison Officer Zakir Hossain has been charged under three provisions:
Article 2.1.1— Alleged fixing or improper influence over the result, progress or conduct of a BPL match.
Article 2.1.4— Allegedly facilitating or encouraging corrupt conduct.
Article 2.4.6— Allegedly failing or refusing to cooperate with an anti-corruption investigation, including non-compliance with a Demand Notice.
Rakibul Islam Sunny
Former Bogura district BCB councillor and Audit Committee member secretary Rakibul Islam Sunny faces two charges:
Article 2.4.4— Allegedly failing to disclose an approach or invitation to engage in corrupt conduct without unnecessary delay.
Article 2.4.6— Allegedly failing or refusing to cooperate with the anti-corruption investigation, including failure to comply with a Demand Notice.
All three individuals have been provisionally suspended and have 14 days from receiving their Notices of Charge to respond to the allegations under the ICC disciplinary process.
The charges remain allegations at this stage, with the disciplinary process set to determine the outcome of the cases.
