The upcoming election comes after significant administrative changes within the country’s cricket governing body earlier this year.
In April, the National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved the board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul and approved an 11-member ad-hoc committee headed by former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal.
NSC Sports Director Mohammed Aminul Ahesan stated at the time that irregularities had been identified in the BCB election process, prompting the restructuring of the board.
The previous administration had also come under scrutiny following Bangladesh’s decision to withdraw from the 2026 T20 World Cup in India over security concerns.
Bangladesh were later replaced in the tournament by Scotland.
The June 7 election is expected to play a key role in shaping the future direction of Bangladesh cricket following months of administrative uncertainty.
