West Indian cricketer DJ Bravo has become the first player to take 400 wickets in T20 format. He achieved the feat while playing for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League today.

A five-wicket haul during his team’s clash against the Hobart Hurricanes made him the 1st the bowler to scalp 400 wickets in T20 cricket. Chasing a target of 165 runs, Melbourne won the match by 7 wickets.

Winning the toss Aaron Finch chose to field first. DJ Bravo, bowling four overs in four different spells, got his 1st wicket by returning Hobart’s opener—Alex Doolan—to the pavilion. His 2nd came when Ben McDermott tried to smash a slower delivery a little too early and got caught by Finch.

With 2 wickets in his first three overs, Bravo came to bowl the final over of the innings. Bowling the very first ball, he got his 3rd wicket of the match as Jofra Archer tried to send the ball against the breeze but got caught in the middle.

Giving away 7 runs including an over-boundary in the next two balls, Bravo picked up his 4th as Cameroon Boyce was caught by Nabi in the deep mid-wicket. Following his 399th wicket on the mark, Bravo was hit for a boundary.

In the last ball, Dwayne dismissed Matthew Wade with yet another slower ball. He tempted the batsman to try to smash the ball, but the batsman failed as Ludeman took a diving catch. The Trinidadian gave away 28 runs in the 24 deliveries he had bowled.

Melbourne Renegades chased the target with ease, thanks to the half-centuries from both Marcus Harris and Cameron White. Finishing the match 9 balls remaining, DJ Bravo got the Man of the Match award following his bowling performance, and deservedly so.
